Email addresses and names will be maintained for 12 months after registration in order to follow up from the 2025 event and to notify of the upcoming 2026 event.

Data collected through surveys during and after the event are in aggregate and does not identify specific participants. This data is used to provide better resources and information to the schools and plan for the next Teen Summit RVA.

If a participant shares their information such as name, phone and/or email address, in podcasts, with vendors or in interviews, Teen Summit RVA will not be held accountable.

Video and photo release is provided during registration and requests permission to use photos and/or videos that may include the participant in marketing and promotional materials after the event.

RVA Teen Summit Code of Conduct

It is important to maintain a high standard of community conduct to ensure an atmosphere conducive to sharing and learning, free of disruption and threat to person or property, and supportive of individual rights. Attendees and volunteers and staff have a primary responsibility for creating a climate of mutual respect, honesty, and trust in this event and venue in order that the dignity of the individual is protected, and the potential of each person may be realized.

In addition, the following points are being highlighted:

  • Regulating Behavior: Attendees and volunteers are expected to be aware of all expectations regulating behavior and conduct themselves in accordance with these guidelines. They should express opinions and ideas, as well as treat everyone in this community with respect in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Reporting Incidents: Attendees and volunteers should report and encourage others to report any incidents of intimidation, harassment, or discrimination. They should also report individuals who make threats to harm others and security concerns.
  • Inclusion: Attendees and volunteers should practice inclusion and embrace differences.
  • Respect: Attendees and volunteers should respect the thoughts, beliefs, and identities of others. Ideas must not offend or hurt others intentionally. Attendees and volunteers should also be free from bullying, name-calling, harassment, and avoid engaging in such behavior. It is the responsibility of attendees and volunteers to report this type of conduct to event organizers immediately.

Addressing Inappropriate Behavior

Addressing and managing inappropriate behavior during the event and at the venue. The event coordinators and their proxies on the day-of are the mediators/arbiters.

Any attendee behaving inappropriately should be immediately removed from the event and separated from others until their parent and/or guardian comes to pick them up from the venue. The removed attendee will NOT be allowed back on the donated transportation since they forfeited that privilege by behaving improperly during the event. Based on how grievous the behavior, deep consideration will need to be made whether to extend an invitation to the following year’s event.

If any County/City, State, or Federal laws are broken, the appropriate authorities will be contacted immediately, and the attendee is subject to their jurisdiction and decisions. Again, based on how grievous the behavior, deep consideration will need to be made whether to extend an invitation to the following year’s event.
